On Adult Men Who “Date” Teenage Girls

When society talks about teenage pregnancy, it’s the mother who usually takes the brunt of the criticism and shaming.

Why was she having sex?

Why didn’t she use protection?

How is she gonna take care of the kid?

I can keep listing statements forever, but I think you get the point. I fully admit there is a problem in teenage pregnancy, but it’s not what you think. The mothers aren’t the problem. The fathers are.

According to Advocates for Youth, it is adult men who are fathering the children of teenage girls. Among girls who give birth by age 15, approximately “39 percent of the fathers are between the ages of 20 and 29.” Men in their twenties and up are essentially raping girls 15 and under, getting them pregnant, and walking away scot-free as the girls face stigma and shaming. This is a problem.

These men are grooming these young girls; molding them into something they desire and tossing them away when they’re done. They do this because to them, women and girls are not human. They are simply modifiable tools for them to play with.

Women their own age are useless to them. They can’t properly mold those women to suit their needs. Older women will likely spot what they’re trying to do and call them on it at the very least. Young girls, however? They can easily take a young girl, break her down, and shape her into whatever tool he needs. It’s the reason why they love the virgin teenager or the girl who has never had a boyfriend.

They want someone without past experience. They want someone with no knowledge of a proper, healthy relationship. This is also why they tend to go after girls from broken or dysfunctional homes. Without knowledge of what a healthy relationship should be, it’s easier for him to shape her ideas about what a relationship should look like. He can essentially make the “perfect girl.” The only problem is, she ages.

There will come a point where she gets to old and/or she becomes fully aware of how fucked up that situation is. When that happens, it’s time to drop her and start training another one. You will notice that with these men, they get older but the women and girls they go after do not.

It’s past time for us to start holding these men accountable for what they are doing to our girls. They are predators going after some of the most vulnerable people in our society. We need to protect our girls at all costs and stop shaming them for being victims of men who should be protecting them.
