Heterosexuality Is Not The “Norm”

I believe that straight people do not hold the vast majority they think they have. I recently made this, mostly innocent, statement on tumblr and found out quickly that was a mistake. My little throwaway post somehow made it to Reddit’s r/tumblrinaction and I caught heat from a lot of anti-social justice people. I was called everything from delusional to a r*tard. One charming anonymous person said they’d be happy to read of my suicide in the obituaries. The one that really made me snap was the person who, in the tags of one post, decided to compare me, a Black bisexual woman, to Ronald Reagan.

That was insulting on a number of fronts. For one, Ronald Reagan sat back and watched the AIDS epidemic tear through the gay community and stood silent. He refused to speak the word for years. Then there’s the plethora of things he did to the Black community. The one thing that immediately pops into mind is his and his wife’s part in the war on drugs. As both a Black woman and a bisexual person, it is both insulting and hurtful to be compared to that man.

On the Liberals Currently Laughing at North Carolina

We need to have a talk.

Do I feel sorry for individual Trump voters? No.

Do I feel sorry for the entire states & millions of innocent people they fucked over? Yes.

I’m sick and tried of people trying to get me to feel sorry for Trump voters. They knew what they were voting for. We have proof now that it was racism, excuse me “cultural anxiety”, that caused people to vote Trump.

Trump told people what he was going to do. People, knowing what he was going to do, voted for him anyway. In the process, they fucked over MILLIONS of people and WHOLE DAMN STATES.  Millions of people are being detained and deported because of him. He tried to ban entry to millions of people. His lackeys are going after healthcare and reproductive rights.

How did we get here? Voter suppression and white Trump voters. That’s how we got here. The GOP launched a coordinated effort to disenfranchise the poor, students, and PoC (especially Black people). This is no conspiracy theory. Don’t believe me? Read this.

We tried, oh my Lord did we try, to tell y’all that this was happening. We tried to warn you of the consequences. Instead, what did you do? Your normal shtick of writing us off as a “lost cause” while making fun of us. So when election time came, just like we said, our states, some of which were swing states (NC was one) went red.

Here’s the real kicker, most of them went red by VERY small margins. NC was 50.5% Trump to 46.7% Hillary. That’s close. When you do the math, that’s a difference of only 177,529 votes. That’s how much he took our state by. Like I said, close. My point is, NC is one of those states that went red by a narrow margin. A margin which possibly tilted that way because of voter suppression.

The state GOP (which Dems donated over $10,000 to) fucked us over. Trump voters fucked us over. Voter suppression fucked us over. Gerrymandering fucked us over. They are the reasons NC went red.

Cut to now and  we are recovering from Hurricane Matthew. NOAA estimated that the damage done to the state was around $1.5 billion. The governor requested $929 million. The Trump administration is only giving us $6.1 million. That’s around one percent of what was asked for.

Look at photos of the devastation that hurricane caused and then go back and examine those numbers. Then, when you’re done, I want you to explain to me like I’m TWO how an entire state deserves to suffer because of what the GOP did. Explain to me how people deserve to have their livelihoods ruined because their neighbor possibly voted for Trump.

Your “well, votes have consequences” tweets are NOT funny. They’re especially not funny when we’re talking about an entire damned state struggling to survive under a GOP that don’t give a damn. And do you know what really fucking hurts? You expect the GOP to not give a damn. They only care about themselves.

What you don’t expect is the party that positions itself to be better to start reveling in the fact that your people are suffering. Democrats/Liberals/Leftists, whatever you want to call yourselves, claim to be the moral superior to the Right/Republicans, but look at them. Watch as they laugh and joke and tweet that we deserve the pain, the suffering, the death we get because “your state went red”. You do this and then you wonder “why won’t people vote for us?”

“Why don’t people trust us?”

“Why are they so mean to us?”

Look. At. Yourselves. You think we deserve what we get? Oh no honey. It’s you who deserves every bit of distrust that comes your way.

And that’s me done ranting because I hate you motherfuckers, I really do, and I wish I could punch you all.

5 Things This Fat Woman Is Tired Of Hearing

“You’re eating yourself to an early grave!”

Okay, first of all, LOL. You sound over-dramatic as fuck.

Second, why is that your business? SPOILER ALERT: It isn’t.

Third, there are so many ways to end up in an early grave. Said ways to end up dead at a young age include:

10 More Things Bi People Are Sick of Hearing

Since you people won’t quit, I won’t either.

It turns out there’s way more than just ten things that us bi folks really don’t like hearing. So, let’s go through another list of what not to say. Ever.

“So, which side is better?”

Oh this one’s easy. The non-biphobic side. You know, the one you’re not on.

“You’re not capable of monogamy.”

Is this your fancy way of saying (again) that we’re cheaters? Ugh. You do know straight people cheat too, right? That’s not exclusive to bi people. Also, non-monogamous relationships (that aren’t cheating) are a thing. Not being capable of monogamy isn’t something to be shameful of (unless you’re a cheater and in that case, fuck you).

What I Learned from Being Married

I went through a lot in my last marriage and as a result I learned a lot. Most of all, I learned that marriage is not the end all, be all of relationships. If you treat it that way, once you get married you are (for lack of a better word) fucked. You treated marriage as “The End, Happily Ever After” and now you realize life still goes on. You’ve signed a binding legal contract tying you to this person for the foreseeable future and you don’t know what to do. All the shit y’all dealt with before marriage, you still have to deal with now. Only difference is you can’t simply tell him to pack his shit and leave and be done with him for good.

Let’s Start Blaming Rapists for Rape

So, I saw yet another article floating around claiming that if women don’t want to be raped, they should stop drinking alcohol. The author claims up an down that’s totally not what she’s saying, but the text says differently. I have decided to take it upon myself to rewrite the article from a different point of view. I’ll be telling men that if they don’t want to rape someone, they should stop drinking alcohol. Trigger warning for rape in the following piece.

#BlackBiBeauty Was A Success!

#BlackBiBeauty was everything I wanted it to be and more. I’m amazed at the amount of people who participated on tumblr, Facebook (yes, I saw y’all), and on twitter. I also want to send out a big thank you to applewriter on twitter for helping make this happen. I was nervous about it at first, but I’m glad I did it. The outcome was definitely worth it.

The sense of community was what I was going for and I think we got it. I heard from so many people how they were finally able to participate in a hashtag and how they felt represented for the first time. A very good discussion was had about how Black bisexual men are vilified in our community.
